Many thanks to Annemarie, Katja and Karin for their reports from the summer of 2024, about 6 months after their Ayurveda treatment at the Wasanawan Villa...
Our stay in December 2021 at the Wasanwan Villa in Sri Lanka:
We, two girls in our late 20s from Baden (Germany), were guests in the Wasanwan Villa for five days.
The hotel is run by the owners Silke and Lucky. Both are very hospitable, attentive and strive to fulfill their guests' every wish. Silke comes from Germany, commutes between continents and is trained in Aryuveda. Lucky is a native of Sri Lanka who also lived in Germany for several years. Lucky is well connected in Sri Lanka and always tries to fulfill almost all of his guests' wishes. He takes great care to ensure that his guests are always well looked after and can move around freely in Sri Lanka.
Silke and Lucky organized a five-day tour of the sights of Sri Lanka for us. The two of them were particularly attentive to our wishes, suggestions and ideas. The organization of the tour was excellent, we didn't have to worry about anything! Our German and English speaking guide was already waiting for us at the airport. As we were a bit tired from the flight, our guide immediately folded down the seats in the car so that we could relax a little until our first stop, an elephant breeding station. The hotels, the driver and the guides at the sights were all booked in advance. The accommodation was very well chosen by Silke and Licky. They were not typical tourist hotels but really good local hotels with a very special local flair, so that you could get to know Sri Lanka and its people in this way too. The five days were full of experiences and impressions of an extraordinary country. Our guide looked after us the whole time. He handed us over to the guide at the start of a tour of the sights and was waiting for us at the end of the tour to pick us up again. It was the same with the hotels we stayed in. Lucky was in constant contact with him. We really saw a lot, were well looked after and looked after, and now, after five days, we are a bit exhausted and worn out.
.When we arrived at the Wasanwan Villa, we felt very comfortable from the very first moment. The family atmosphere of the small hotel with its 4 guest rooms immediately felt like we were coming home to friends in a beautiful country. We particularly liked the fact that there were freshly cooked typical local dishes every day, prepared in a very traditional way by the family. Silke and Lucky were also happy to accommodate our individual dietary requests. For breakfast, there was fresh fruit every morning, practically straight from the tree to our breakfast table. The fresh fruit is incredibly tasty and full of aromas that you can hardly get in Germany. In the evening, there was a varied cuisine, including European dishes on request, for example fresh grilled fish. Lucky really enjoys cooking for the guests. Since he knows the local cuisine as well as the German cuisine, the food is always a real treat.
The hotel also has its own TucTuc driver who drove us very reliably from A to B and always kept an eye on us, so that we felt very safe at all times.
What is special about the Wasanwan Villa is the Ayurveda concept. Since Silke successfully completed a one-year training course in Ayurveda in Sri Lanka, it is particularly important to her to familiarize her guests with this traditional Indian medical health system of versatile therapies and healing methods. We were Ayurveda beginners, and at the beginning a very experienced, good and friendly doctor took an hour to diagnose our health. We really felt very comfortable. Silke accompanied us here at our request and explained the special features of Ayurveda to us in more detail. The doctor recommended certain remedies and healing methods for therapy, which Silke then explained to us individually in more detail. Silke then accompanied us to a local pharmacy and showed us which remedies the doctor recommended and exactly how to use them. We found this to be very caring and beneficial. The Wasanwan Villa also offers other activities such as wonderfully soothing Ayurvedic massages, morning yoga at the height of the palm tree tops on the roof terrace, meditation, as well as simply calming down, switching off and relaxing, or spending a few lovely hours on the beautiful and deserted beach, which is about 300m away on foot from the Wasanwan Villa.
For us, the hotel has an exceptional and special value because Silke and Lucky were very warm to us and took a lot of time to make our vacation as wonderful as possible.
Overall, it was a wonderful holiday with great experiences, as Silke and Lucky showed us the country in their own way.
Thank you both very much!
Keep it up!
We will definitely see each other again, see you soon …Giulia and Jenny
